How Purely Energy came to be, exploring our origins, the challenges we set out to solve, and the mission that drives us to support businesses with better energy.
Purely Energy was established in 2021 when Harvey, our company director, noticed that many energy brokers were tied to one supplier, which meant that customers were unable to achieve the lowest overall cost. Harvey then decided to establish his own energy brokering business, which put low-cost energy at the centre of the company's priorities. At Purely Energy, we work with over 30 different suppliers to allow a full scope of the energy market so we can get you the cheapest rates available for your business. We have a strict rule of only recommending the lowest price to the client, which is why we win 85% of any contract tendered for.
Our Journey So Far
Purely Energy started as a small shop front with four employees in the heart of Warrington. After looking at different areas and deciding where to base the new business, Warrington was the best candidate: strong transport links, lower rents than nearby city centres such as Liverpool and Manchester, and a large labour pool.
In February 2024, we moved into an office on Rylands Street to accommodate a fast-growing team. By February 2026, we had outgrown that space and relocated to Warrington Centre Park, a commercial business park on the edge of town that now serves as our headquarters and gives us room for the next phase of growth.
Growth has been the story of the business. Since we were founded in May 2021, Purely Energy has grown by 1,164% to the end of the 2024/25 financial year, with growth since 2022 alone standing at 1,000%.
We've grown from four employees at the start, to nine in early 2024, to 22 today, and we continue to invest in early careers. We run dedicated graduate vacancies aimed at recent university leavers and currently employ one apprentice, a number we plan to increase by the end of the year.
Our sales team also includes Mandarin and Cantonese-speaking members, which has improved accessibility for customers who would otherwise face a language barrier and helped our client base grow alongside our sales success.
As Purely Energy has grown, it became clear our customers needed support across more than just securing low-cost contracts. We also help with change of tenancies, billing queries, and meter installations, and our dedicated admin team was created to deliver efficient, well-organised support across every part of the energy journey.
Purely Energy now operates nationwide, managing over 3,000 contracts and approximately 543.3 GWh of gas and electricity on behalf of our customers. We are also looking to open two more sites in the UK by the end of 2026.
Our Achievements
Purely Energy is a certified B-Corporation, a standard that recognises companies meeting high levels of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. We were certified in July 2025 with an overall B Impact Score of 87.6. Governance was our strongest area at 21.0, reflecting our mission lock and our approach to ethics and transparency.
We are also certified to ISO 9001 for quality management, approved by Atlas Certification Limited under certificate number RH10438Q40. The certification covers our provision of energy brokerage and consultancy services, including supplier tendering, contract management and client account management, and gives our clients independent assurance that the way we work is documented, audited and continually improved.
We are also an accredited Living Wage Employer and hold the Good Business Charter, which sets standards on pay, employee wellbeing, fair tax, prompt payment and environmental responsibility.
Alongside this, we are proud to sponsor National Energy Action (NEA), the national charity working to end fuel poverty in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. NEA campaigns to ensure everyone can afford to live in a warm, safe and healthy home.
Purely Insights is our own energy monitoring software, and it has already helped customers save thousands simply by keeping a closer eye on their usage. The portal gives you a full dashboard of your energy consumption, which is particularly useful if you run multiple sites: you can consolidate every site in one place and monitor usage across the lot.
We also publish a daily market report you can sign up to, which lets you actively track the energy market. It is a useful tool to have on hand when you are looking to secure the best rates on your next contract. Two things worth checking before this goes live.
